The approach we take aims to ensure appropriate terminology, to preserve the original message and to guarantee the proper use of the language. This approach stays the same for all documents, big or small: thoroughness is key at every step.
The methodology can be summarized by the following steps:
- Terminology research
- Translation by the translator
- Revision by a reviser, other than the translator
- Final revision
The terminology research, validated by the client, ensures that the terms are exact and verifies that the text was understood correctly. The terminology database, specific to each client, is stored and used in a way that guarantees a uniform translation of future documents.
Translation
Clarity, precision and accuracy are of the utmost importance; for that reason, the translator only translates to his native language to ensure the highest quality of work.
All the translated sentences are stored in a translation memory, specific to each client. This way, the original message is always translated the same way, without exception.
Revision
The first revision is done by a reviser, other than the translator. The reviser benefits from a fresh outlook on the text and concentrates on cohesion, uniformity, typography and grammar. This second person ensures the quality of the translated text.
Final revision
At this step, the translator takes the corrections from the reviser into account and proceeds to the second revision.
They compile a list of possible ambiguities and semantic shifts in a document intended for the client. The translator also documents typographical errors that may have slipped through in the original document.
This comment file ensures that the client precisely understands the message conveyed by the translated document and also provides him with an added control layer over his original text.
